Who runs this site

GetInvoiceMaker (getinvoicemaker.com) is run by Peak Apps Studio. For any question about your data, email info@peakappsstudio.com.

When you make an invoice or a rent receipt

The forms and the live preview run in your browser. When you press Download, your browser sends the document to our server, which builds the PDF.

• Invoices include what you typed: your name or business name, email address, postal address and tax ID, your client's name, email address, postal address and tax ID, the invoice number and dates, the line items and tax lines, your notes (which often contain bank details), and your logo if you added one.
• Rent receipts include the tenant's and landlord's names, the property address, the receipt number and dates, the period covered, the amount and the payment method.

The server builds the PDF in memory, sends it back to your browser and does not keep a copy. If a PDF fails to build, the server writes a technical error message to our hosting logs.

The late payment interest calculator and the sales tax calculators work entirely in your browser. When the late payment calculator opens an invoice for you, the figures travel in the part of the link after the # sign, which browsers do not send to servers.

What is stored in your browser

• Your own details. Your name, email address, postal address and tax ID, and the number of the last invoice you downloaded, are saved in your browser's local storage so the next invoice is quicker. They stay on your device until you clear this site's data in your browser settings.
• Your Pro license key. If you activate Pro, the key is saved in a cookie called gim_lic so that Pro stays on in that browser, and a copy is kept in local storage so the cookie can be restored if it is cleared. The cookie lasts 400 days and is sent only to this site. The "Remove Pro from this browser" button on the Activate Pro page removes both.

The site sets no other cookies and uses none for tracking or advertising.

License checks

When you activate Pro, our server sends your license key to Gumroad's license service (api.gumroad.com) to confirm that it belongs to an active purchase: not refunded, charged back or ended. The server checks the key again on later visits and keeps the answer in its memory for up to six hours. Gumroad's answer includes details of the purchase; we use it only to decide whether Pro is on, and we do not store it.

To stop the activation form being misused, the server also keeps your IP address in its memory for ten minutes after each activation attempt.

Buying Pro

Pro is sold through Gumroad. The Get Pro button opens Gumroad's checkout, where you give your payment details to Gumroad, not to us. As the seller, we receive your email address and the details of your order and subscription from Gumroad, and we use them to provide email support, answer questions about your purchase and issue refunds.

Hosting and fonts

The site runs on Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel processes each request, including your IP address, the page you asked for and your browser type, and keeps request logs for a limited time. The fonts are served from this site, so no font service sees your visit.

Emails

If you email us, we receive your email address and your message. Mail sent to peakappsstudio.com addresses is forwarded by Forward Email to a Gmail inbox. We use your email only to reply to you.

Vercel, Gumroad and Google are based in the United States, so your data may be processed there. We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers.

How long data is kept

• Invoice and receipt details: only while the server builds your PDF.
• Details saved in your browser: until you clear them. The Pro cookie expires after 400 days.
• License check results: up to six hours in the server's memory. IP addresses from activation attempts: ten minutes.
• Hosting logs: kept by Vercel for a limited time under its own policy.
• Purchase and subscription records: kept by Gumroad under its own policy.
• Emails: until we delete them. Ask us and we will delete yours, unless we need it as a record of a payment or refund.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Email info@peakappsstudio.com and we will reply within one month. Most of the data this site uses never reaches us: you can delete what is saved in your browser yourself by clearing this site's data. If you live in the EU or the UK, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

GetInvoiceMaker is a tool for businesses, freelancers and landlords and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Changes to this policy

If the site starts handling data differently, we will update this page and the date at the top.
